Arkansas Train Accidents

In many western states in the country, including Arkansas, an operation known as CARE (Crossing Accident Reduction Enforcement) was created in order to help prevent railroad crossing accidents from occurring. Many deaths have occurred in various parts of Arkansas due to a railroad crossing accident. If you lost someone in this type of accident, we can work with a train accident attorney in Arkansas.

According to U.S. Government sources, in 2007 there were a total of 220 reported railroad accidents/incidents in the State of Arkansas. These resulted in 163 deaths or injuries in the year 2007. Of the 220 reported railroad accidents/incidents in 2007, 70 of these were highway-rail collisions that resulted in 45 deaths and injuries. There were also 68 reported on-duty injuries to railroad employees in the State of Arkansas in 2007.

In 2005, a collision of two Union Pacific trains occurred in Texarkana, Arkansas. The accident resulted in an explosion and the release of propylene, a compressed flammable gas. Because of the propylene that traveled into a nearby neighborhood, over 3,000 residents were required to evacuate. It has been determined that the train crew failed to stay alert enough and it was because of this that the accident occurred. Additionally, the yardmaster didn't provide emergency responders immediately with a consist which would have identified the hazardous materials in the tank cars immediately.

If you or a loved one were injured in a TRAIN CRASH, RAILROAD CROSSING ACCIDENT, or TRAIN DERAILMENT ACCIDENT, it is vital to consult a train accident attorney regarding your injury case. It is imperative to act as soon as possible before it is too late. Even more importantly, key evidence needs to be preserved and individuals need to be interviewed before items are lost or memories fade.
