Breaking News: Train Derailment In Southern California

In Southern California, a Union Pacific train has derailed. Reports indicate that the tanker cars were leaking hydrochloric and phosphoric acid which resulted in home evacuations in the area. No reports of injury have been reported.

Used for rust removal, phosphoric acid can be very harmful, along with hydrochloric. Hydrochloric is used for the production of dyes and fertilizers, as well as other industries such as rubber and photographic industries. When it comes in direct contact with the eyes or skin, it can cause burns due to the fact that it is highly corrosive.

Approximately 2,000 feet of train tracks sustained damage due to the derailment and 25 trains were delayed.
