Utah Train Accidents

In 2007, the Bureau of Land Management in Utah conducted a safety inspection regarding areas of the workplace, including workplaces that involve any type of interaction with railroads. Unfortunately, when a train accident occurs, it is usually a worker on duty that is injured or killed as a result. The inspection process will involve training staff members better and making sure everyone recognizes safety hazards. When one worker is negligent, another worker may wind up suffering because of it.

According to U.S. Government sources, in 2007 there were 89 reported railroad accidents/incidents in the State of Utah resulting in 45 deaths or injuries. During the ten years of 1998 to 2007 there were 1,059 reported train accidents/incidents causing 686 deaths or injuries in the State of Utah.

In 2007 there were also 25 reported on-duty injuries to railroad employees in the State of Utah. For the ten years of 1998 to 2007 there were 481 reported on-duty injuries to railroad employees.

The number of reported highway-rail collisions in Utah totaled 15 in the year 2007. These resulted in 6 injuries in 2007. Over the ten year period of 1998 to 2007 there were 178 reported highway-rail collisions resulting in 88 deaths or injuries.

A husband and wife were traveling in Lehi, Utah when they stopped at a stop sign right near railroad tracks. As they attempted to cross the railroad tracks, they were hit by a train that was traveling eastbound. Luckily, both individuals did not sustain any injuries from the accident, although their car was very damaged afterwards. Unfortunately, many train accidents do not end like this and any victims involved are either injured or killed. If you or someone close to you has been injured in a train accident in Utah, contact a lawyer.

If you or a loved one were injured in a TRAIN CRASH, RAILROAD CROSSING ACCIDENT, or TRAIN DERAILMENT ACCIDENT, it is vital to consult a train accident lawyer regarding your injury case. It is imperative to act as soon as possible before it is too late. Even more importantly, key evidence needs to be preserved and individuals need to be interviewed before items are lost or memories fade.
